The Latera caldera is relevant by a scientific point of view. It has been studied for decades due to the presence of natural CO2
and other geo-gasses emissions. It is a peculiar natural laboratory to study the effects of climate changes, test innovative instruments and techniques to monitor CO2
and to study the impact on the ecosystem.
A lot of projects have been funded by the European Commission in the frame of CCS. Some of the data acquired in the past have been inserted in a database and are now available to the laboratory users.
Data acquired by the fixed sensors network and by the mobile systems are available to the ECCSEL scientific community, in order to perform innovative researches.
